30 years into the future – We are looking at dilapidated earth, burning in the shadows of an unknown monster. This future is not the only dramatic twist in this edgy, gripping and mind-blowing entertainer.
It is shown that the year 2022 is the year that future generation come back from the future to warn the present generation about a lost war with a cry for help. These time-jumping back-from-the-future humans are here with a plan to destroy the savage alien species called ‘Whitespikes’.
As men get drafted for a war happening 30 years in the future, Dan Forester faces more than just his fate. Creepy and long-armed aliens roaming the streets of Miami are not his only concern, living up to his daughter’s expectations and going back home after serving his seven days in the future war is the daunting weight on his shoulders.
Man of the moment (and the future), Chris Pratt does a marvelous job as Dan Forester, a biology professor, and an ex-army man. The movie brings out his different emotions – from apprehension to ruthless on-field action. Adding to the Chris Pratt magic is his co-star Sam Richardson (playing Charlie), who brings in humour to the otherwise dark movie.
The movie has a talented ensemble cast that includes Betty Gilpin as Dan’s wife and Yvonne Strahovski as his adult daughter (from the future).
But the real co-stars that stole the show are the roach-like aliens ‘Whitespikes’ that keep you on the edge with their destructive ways and disturbing appearance. This fictional alien species was designed by Ken Barthelmey, who did a great job in making us hate these blood-sucking aliens.
